What is a Jizo statue? Jizo (Jizo Bosatsu) is a Buddhist bodhisattva who travels through six trans-migratory worlds on foot, and saves and comforts us. It is often Afound at the roadside as six Jizos, and it has been part of the Japanese landscape since ancient times. It is said that if you make a wish to a Jizo, (e.g. to be cured of a disease, to have a baby, to live long etc) your wish will be granted and you will also be saved from suffering in the afterlife.
